New technology creates opportunity. The next step is changing how you use it.

Graphite’s evolving experience brings new ways to find information, ask questions, uncover insights, get help, and recognize what may deserve attention.

But introducing new capabilities is only the beginning.

The greater opportunity comes when school leaders begin to change how they interact with their technology and information.

As these capabilities become part of your Graphite experience, here are a few things leadership teams can start—and stop—doing to make the most of what’s next.

_____________

START: Begin With the Question

School leaders are accustomed to thinking about information in terms of reports:

Which report do I need? Where is that information? Who can pull it for me?

Start somewhere different.

Begin with:

What do I want to know?

That small change matters. When technology allows people to interact with information more naturally, leaders can spend less time thinking about how to retrieve information and more time thinking about the questions that will help them lead.

START asking: What would help us make a better decision?

STOP starting with: Which report should we run?

_____________

START: Look for What Deserves Attention

Leadership dashboards and reports have traditionally been good at showing what happened.

Increasingly, technology can help leaders identify what deserves a closer look.

That means leadership teams can begin incorporating a different question into their routines:

What should we be paying attention to right now?

This is particularly important with student information. When meaningful changes become visible earlier, the opportunity isn't simply to know sooner. It's to connect sooner, ask questions sooner, and provide support sooner.

START looking for: Changes, patterns, and signals that warrant a conversation.

STOP relying only on: Scheduled reviews to tell you something has changed.

_____________

START: Turn Insight Into a Next Step

Information has limited value if it stops with the answer.

When something important surfaces, ask:

What should happen next?

That might mean communicating with someone, exploring the information further, initiating a process, or simply starting a conversation.

The goal isn't action for action's sake. It's shortening the distance between understanding something and responding appropriately.

START asking: Who needs to know, and what is the appropriate next step?

STOP allowing: Useful insights to end with a report or dashboard.

_____________

START: Make Intelligence Part of Everyday Work

AI shouldn't have to be a special project that someone remembers to use.

Its real value comes when it becomes a natural part of how people work.

Encourage your leadership team to experiment with asking questions, using available intelligence during meetings, exploring information differently, and identifying places where technology can make an existing process easier.

The goal isn't to use AI everywhere.

It's to recognize where it makes people more effective.

START thinking: Could intelligence help us do this better?

STOP thinking: Where can we add AI?

_____________

START: Lead the Adoption

One of the biggest factors determining whether new technology creates value isn't the technology itself.

It's whether people use it. Leadership sets that tone.

Ask your team what they have tried. Share useful discoveries. Bring Graphite into leadership conversations. Identify workflows worth revisiting. And make sure the people who can benefit from new capabilities understand what is available to them.

You don't need everyone to become an AI expert. You need people to become comfortable asking better questions and exploring new ways to accomplish their work.

_____________

Your Next Step

The release of new capabilities is not the finish line. It's an opportunity to look at familiar work with fresh eyes.

As a leadership team, start with three questions:

What do we wish we knew sooner?
What takes more steps than it should?
Where could better information help us act with greater confidence?

Those answers can help identify where the capabilities inside Graphite can have the greatest impact for your school.

What's next isn't only about what Graphite can do. It's about what your school can do differently because of it.‍
